Troy Community Food Cooperative Holds Annual Meeting

The Cooperative organization developing the Pioneer Market: a new grocery store for downtown Troy, met Wednesday, April 29 to review progress and to nominate new members of the Board of Directors. Members of the Cooperative heard Board President Wayne Metsch present an overview of the past year’s achievements and a look at what is planned for the upcoming months. The project is very close to finishing it’s first phase: $1.8 million of the $2.1 million dollar cost of development has been raised. A major push to increase membership was announced. Ms Rochelle Prunty, the General Manager of River Valley Market in Northampton MA, a newly opened food co-op, spoke to the members about her organization’s start-up process. Mr. Eric Paul, the General Manager of the Pioneer Market, presented the Annual Report, and Mr. Dennis Sullivan, a co-op member, presented the Audit findings. A question and answer session from the membership finished up the event.
