Community-supported-agriculture (CSA) shares available for member-owners from two farms this winter

The Co-op is excited to be a CSA delivery site for two local farms this winter and offers member-owners the opportunity to purchase shares in the program.

Tilldale Farm in Hoosick, NY raises organic, grass-fed beef and pork. A share for the season yields approximately 30 pounds of beef or pork. For vegetables Winter Sun Farm, in New Paltz, NY, provides late season vegetables, local summer fruits and vegetables that they package and freeze, as well as fresh greenhouse crops. Pick-up dates for both farms are December 16th, January 13th, February 10th, and March 10th, from 4-7 pm. Right now we're considering several options for the location.

In the near future you'll receive a more detailed email on how the CSA works, including cost and pick-up location. In the meantime

for more information on the CSA program, please feel free to contact the farms directly:

CO-OP SPONSORS VICTORIAN STROLL FOOD DRIVE

CELEBRATE THE HOLIDAYS...CELEBRATE COMMUNITY

For the third consecutive year, the Troy Food Co-op is joining the community for the Victorian Stroll on Sunday, December 6. Whether you’re en route to Stroll festivities in the center of downtown or on your own Sunday stroll, please stop by the Co-op’s future home from 11 am to 4 pm.

SUPPORT OUR FOOD DRIVE

Co-op members and the public are invited to drop off non-perishable food items for our first Victorian Stroll Food Drive. Coop members will package and deliver the donations to four Troy charities serving those most in need:

  • Hope 7 Food Pantry, East Side – need baked beans, mac ‘n cheese, stuffing mixes, soups
  • Troy Larger Food Pantry – serves several churches in central Troy
  • St. Mary's Food Pantry, Third Street, Little Italy, south of downtown Troy
  • Troy Area United Urban Ministry – soup kitchen, serving lunch, dinners to HIV patients; operates food pantry
And while you’re out and about this week, take a look at the windows of the Pioneer Market promoting the food drive, created by Co-op members Marion Dunleavy and Joe Quandt.
