CONSTRUCTION PROGRESSES IN THE PIONEER FOOD MARKET

Construction in the Pioneer Food Market is moving at a rapid pace! The Building Committee and Co-op staff continue to meet with our architect (Lacey-Convertino Architects) and general contractor (JLuk Construction Company) on a bi-weekly basis to review the construction progress and coordinate scheduling.

As two more critical projects were completed in the past two weeks, we move into new phases of construction. Shown in the photos above, JLuk has upgraded our water service and enlarged the line under our sidewalk, and has poured our new retail floor. With these two hurdles behind us, we are ready to begin receiving our new retail equipment, and start connecting the new plumbing lines.

The photos below show (clockwise) the completion of the vestibule framing, the demolition of the old produce and meat coolers in the rear of the store, the underground work on the Congress Street water main, and the preparation of the concrete subfloor.

Each week brings more activity and excitement - and brings us closer to business! We will be having our first open-house and construction tour on Friday July 30th, so look for more information on the day's events to be posted shortly.

Thanks to our membership and our community for your continuing support.

THE PIONEER FOOD MARKET IS UNDER CONSTRUCTION

The Troy Community Food Co-op's Building Committee is proud to announce that we are beginning our second month of construction on the Pioneer Food Market! We have been fortunate to retain the services of Lacey-Convertino Architects and JLuk Construction Company while we were waiting for our financing to come together. And since the closing, the renovations have moved at a speedy pace.

All of the site preparation, demolition, and electrical and mechanical rough-in took place in early June. They were large tasks, but ones that were not necessarily visible from the sidewalk. The heavier construction, including structural work for our new receiving doors and new walk-in coolers began in the past week.

It's exciting to see the retail floor become transformed into our new layout. These photos show framing for the front entrance vestibule and for the soffit above the deli and kitchen areas at the back of the floor.

Look for more photos to be posted as progress continues... or take a walk down Congress Street and see the action first-hand!
